Credits & Plans
What is a credit?
Section titled “What is a credit?”One credit is consumed each time a workflow step executes. Credits are counted per step execution — not per workflow run, not per trigger.
| Workflow shape | Credits per run |
|---|---|
Single start step | 1 |
start → one scheduled step | 2 |
start → 5 parallel branches (fan-out) | 6 (start + 5) |
start → 3 branches → each schedules 2 more | 10 (1 + 3 + 6) |
| Plan | Workflows | Credits / month | Overage rate | Overage cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 | 10,000 | None (hard limit) | $0 |
| Starter | 10 | 500,000 | $15 / million | $50 |
| Growth | 30 | 2,500,000 | $10 / million | $150 |
| Business | 100 | 8,000,000 | $10 / million | $500 |
| Enterprise | 300 | 20,000,000 | $10 / million | $2,000 |
- Workflows — the maximum number of active workflows at once.
- Credits / month — your included allocation, reset on each billing anniversary date.
- Overage rate — the per-credit cost after your included allocation is exhausted.
- Overage cap — the maximum additional charge in a single billing cycle. Workflows keep running after the cap is reached.
Checking your usage
Section titled “Checking your usage”Go to Settings → Billing in the app to see credits used, remaining credits, overage accrued, and billing cycle dates.
How credits are billed
Section titled “How credits are billed”Billing runs through Shopify’s subscription system. Your base plan is a fixed monthly charge. Overage is calculated at the end of each billing cycle and added as a usage charge to your Shopify invoice.
Unused credits do not roll over to the next cycle.
Step chain depth
Section titled “Step chain depth”There is no per-plan chain depth limit. A platform-wide circuit breaker prevents runaway infinite loops regardless of plan.
